Car Battery Charger will automatically detect the voltage to charge then maintain the battery.

To change and select mode:

There is a 3 to 5 seconds interval to change the mode after you connect the battery clamps to the battery only when the battery is fully charged. Due to safety feature, we designed to lock the mode button once the battery is fully charged to keep the battery in maintenance mode. Please press the “Mode” button under 5 seconds when it is connected to the battery. You can always change the mode during charging process for battery that is partially charge.

Will the charger constantly charging the battery even though it reads 100%?

No, the battery charger is designed to offer overload, overcharge, overcurrent protection. When the battery is fully charged and ready to use, it indicated by the 100% Charge LED illuminate solid Green. In this step, the battery charger will only deliver enough current to keep the battery in full charge. If the battery sends signal to the charger that requires more current, then the battery charger will switch to maintenance stage. The battery charger is constantly charging the battery when it detects a voltage drops on the battery.

Automatically switch to Maintenance mode (All 4 LEDs lights will be solid):

The Charger will continuously monitor the battery voltage to determine if a maintenance charge should be initiated. If the terminal voltage falls below 6.4V (6V) and 12.8V (12V), the charger will start the maintenance cycle until voltage reaches 7.2V (6V) and 14.4V (12V) and then it discontinues to the charge cycle. The cycle between trickle and maintenance is repeated indefinitely to keep the battery at full charge, without overcharging. The battery charger can be left connected indefinitely. All 4 LEDs lights (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) will be illuminated constantly to maintain the battery for all-seasons.

Standby:

In Standby mode, the charger is not charging or providing any power to the battery. Once the battery clamps is removed from the battery, standby mode will be activated to avoid electrical shock. Energy Save is activated during this mode, drawing microscopic power from the electrical outlet. When in Standby, the green Standby LED will illuminate.

LED power indicator light:

25% (red light), 50% (red light), 70% (yellow light), 100% (green light) means the battery is charged up to 90-100%. When the battery is fully charged, all 4 LEDs will illuminate constantly. The battery charger will stay on maintenance mode to trickle charge the battery, all 4 LEDs will illuminate 25% (red light), 50% (red light), 70% (yellow light), 100% (green light), depends on the battery capacity. This is normal charging process that the battery charger will not switch to standby mode.

FAQ (Troubleshooting tips)

Why is the battery charger switching from 25% to error light or standby light? (Battery is in low voltage or dead battery)

If the battery charger is blanking from 25% to standby, that means your car battery voltage is too low to detect or a dead battery. If your car battery is completely dead and the car wouldn’t start at all, you’ll need to use a jump starter to jump start the car then drive the car for 20 to 30 minutes to allow the alternator recharge the car battery, then you can keep the battery charger plugged in to the car battery to fully charge your battery after jump-start the battery.

Why is the battery charger switching from 25% to error light or standby light? Battery has acid around the battery terminals for blocking the battery charger to recharge your battery.

If the battery charger is clicking and recharging at 25% once you connect to car battery terminals, that means your battery might have acid around the battery terminals for blocking the battery charger to recharge your battery. You may change to a different place in battery terminals within your battery to detect the voltage then it will begin the charging process.

How do I determine a good or bad battery?

Multimeter only measures voltage, which can tell you if the battery is charged. 12.7v+ is fully charged. You need a load tester to see if the battery is bad. If the car clicks when trying to start, but still won’t start, this can be caused by a weak battery, dirty battery terminals, a worn starter motor or a stuck solenoid. Here are a few tricks to try if the car doesn’t start: If your car turns on but won’t start, turn on the dome light and watch it while you try to start the engine. If the light goes out, it’s a sign the battery is really weak almost dead.

Can I use 3.6-amp battery charger to charge a completely dead battery?

No. Car battery tend to run 12-volt or more volts, and if the battery falls below that amount, you could have a dead battery. If your car does not start because of a completely dead battery, your only option might be used a jump starter or jumper cables from another car and purchase a new battery in the near future. The life span of a car battery is usually between 3 to 5 years.

Why is the battery charger has “Clicking noise” between at 50%, 75% or 100%?

Your car battery won’t hold a charge to up 100% capacity anymore, it will operate for 50% to 70% of its previous capacity. The battery charger will start the “Clicking noise” upon recharging the car battery up to its battery capacity.
